Obituary of Candida Barroso
Please share a memory of Candida to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Candida “Candy” Barroso was born in Mirones, Spain on October 31, 1931, and joined her soulmate and husband of 54 years, Victoriano Barroso, in eternal life on October 16, 2024.
Candy lived a life of love, generosity, and faith. She and Victoriano immigrated to America over 70 yrs ago and settled in North Bergen, NJ. Together, Candy and Victoriano quickly turned their house into a home; without hesitation, they opened their arms to friends and family also in the immigration process, and later grew their family with the birth of their son, Victor, and daughter, Modesta. Candy and Victoriano’s backyard was always full of billowing laughter, immense love, and plenty of food. The walls of their home are adorned in family photos, celebrating so many years of love and happiness.
A talented seamstress, Candy worked in the garment industry for over 25 years. In her free time, she could be found tending to her garden, cooking paella and rice pudding, humming Spanish melodies, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Family was everything to Candy; “For you? Anything…” was her go-to response to a loved one in need.
Candy was loved by so many people including her son, Victor Barroso; her daughter, Modesta (Barroso) Bach and late husband Richard Bach; grandchildren Xander Bach, Marena Bach and husband James Quinn; great-grandson Ellis Quinn, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Victoriano Barroso, her mother Enriqueta (Acebo) Gomez; her father Candido Gomez; her sister Luz Marigil; her brother Ramiro Gomez; her brother Luis Gomez; and her son-in-law, Richard Bach. She will be deeply missed and forever loved and celebrated.
Visitation will be held on Sunday October 20th, from 2 - 6 PM at the Joseph Z. Konopka Funeral home. Funeral mass for Candida will take place at Our Lady of Fatima on Monday, October 21st at 10:30 AM. After mass, we will take Candida to her final resting place, the Garden of Memories located in Washington Township.
