Obituary of Barbara Foster

Barbara Siekierski Moat Foster passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at her son’s house in Pennsylvania. She is survived by her beloved husband, Thomas R. Foster, her son Michael and his wife Pamela of Toms River and her son Paul of Whitehall, Pennsylvania. She was pre-deceased by her husband Michael Moat in 1964 and her daughter Susan Panza-O’Brien in 2010, her parents Stanislaw Siekierski and Stanislawa (Stella) Kotowski Siekierski and her sisters Irene Weeks and Lottie Kobus. She was born June 17, 1939 in Teaneck and lived most of her life in Edgewater. She loved Edgewater and always boasted about being a lifelong “River Rat”. She attended Sacred Heart School in North Bergen and Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood. She had 10 grandchildren, Michael, Cara, Michael, Matthew, Stephanie, Melanie, Christopher, Paul, Catie and Joseph and 4 great-grandchildren, Michelle, Arabella, Jane and Maggie. She loved being a mother and grandmother and attended every event in their lives, near or far. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Bergen Pines Hospital. She was a credit manager at Carolace Embroidery Company for many years and then worked at the Edgewater Public Library before her retirement. She was a friendly person and she and her husband Tom liked to sit on the porch of their home at 454 Undercliff Avenue at the top of Dempsey Avenue and talk to everyone who came by. She and Tom loved to travel. They especially liked going to Maine, California and Key West, Florida. Barbara loved her family, her kids and grandkids but also all her nieces and nephews, cousins and in-laws. She made her daughters-in-law and sons-in-law welcome from Day 1. She had many friends. To know her was to love her. She was a genuine, warm, down-to-earth person who greeted everyone with a big smile and a “How Are You?”. The world needs more people like her. She received her angel wings in an instant. She will be sorely and profoundly missed. May she rest in peace. Visiting hours on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 4 PM to 8 PM at Konopka Funeral Home, 9046 Palisade Avenue, North Bergen, NJ. Funeral Mass on Saturday at 10:30 AM at Holy Rosary Church, 365 Undercliff Avenue, Edgewater, NJ 07020. Private Cremation.
